So, I watched the 20 minute gameplay video of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I liked it! It looks like a very polished, improved version of Human Revolution. I was worried that they just made it another shooter, but the gameplay video explored a number of different possible options (hacking, platforming, etc). I'm not really digging the overemphasis on the Illuminati as the "villain" in this game, though. The core of Deus Ex 1 was exploring various conspiracy theories. The Illuminati was a major part of that, but not only were they also brought in with genetically-spliced aliens and computer-AIs-gone-rogue, they also weren't like, villains or anything. Hell, as far as endings go, they were one of the better options, I always felt. Nowadays, the very idea of the Illuminati feels like a joke on par with the previously mentioned aliens and whatever, so it just feels weird that such a hokey concept has been pushed into a villain role. Even if Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are prequels, I don't think we really needed the return of the Illuminati. Still, gameplay-wise, Mankind Divided looks great. I hope the full-game looks just like what they advertise.
