There's the Fort Shadaloo we all knew and loved.

Still just kinda playing Red Dead Redemption again. The game's still held up well, it's a great little open-world game. I've just arrived in Mexico at around 50% completion (Gotta 100% every Rockstar game), and man, I love reliving all these great little moments. John Marston just really well-written, and his reactions to the constant filler that the game throws at you (as is open-world tradition) is always amusing. It's a good thing the actual filler is fun, even if it repeats itself quite a lot. I looked it up, and I was surprised to find out that Red Dead Redemption and Metal Gear Solid V had just about the same budget. Granted, Red Dead exists on the back of GTA4's engine and only exists on two platforms (but then again, MGSV sold a 2-hour demo as a stand-alone title for more dev time/money), but Red Dead's open world is still so much more impressive than MGSV's. Maybe I'm comparing cowboy apples to sneaky oranges, I dunno. It's just amazing how much more alive its world is compared to the dull, sleep-inducing trek that is navigating Afghanistan or Africa in the Phantom Pain. There's so much detail and thought crammed into every aspect of RDR's cowboy frontier that just seems oddly lacking in TPP, which is so weird since Kojima is usually a detail FREAK in his games.

Man, I always tell myself "This will be the day I shut the fuck up about MGSV", but I always end up going back to whine. What a bummer.

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.
