474) Those We Lost

It still hurts.

So, I watched the Michael Bay produced Ninja Turtles movie. I'm a pretty big Ninja Turtles fan. Seen all the movies, played all the games, read some comics, watched some cartoons, had some toys. And my verdict on the 2014 film? It actually wasn't that bad. It could've been better, sure, there was some definite room for improvement. Shredder is clearly an afterthought, there's some real bizarre tone shifts, there's a fart joke thrown in there, Mikey's more of a creep than he is funny, but hey, it could've been worse. It certainly wasn't no Transformers, and it's definitely not worse than TMNT3. It's a decent movie. There's some solid material in there. They actually give all four turtles some shit to do, like they all feel equally important instead of the movie just becoming the Leo and Raph show like all the other movies. They build the relationship between the four brothers really well, and there's some pretty good banter between them. Tony Shaloub as Splinter, while not my favorite portrayal of the rat, isn't half-bad either. But Shredder sucks, the other villain sucks, Megan Fox and Will Arnett are boring, and the plot bogs itself down in its own pseudo-science when the most shit you need is "we spilt some ooze on some turtles". I also don't really like the turtles being April's pets but eh, whatever. It wasn't a terrible movie. I'm just now stupidly hyped for the sequel coming out and the Platinum game.

Welp, I'm gonna go play some Dragon's Dogma. People on twitter want a Suria pawn, and I gotta deliver of course. SEE YA.
